Happy Birthday Captain Sausage

He had a hard paper round.
I know its difficult to believe looking at him but Captain Sausage is one year old.
One year ago our tournament organizer hit on the idea of a bijou cookout at the field. Just a little snack for archers braving the winter cold to get their arch on. That first snack was pigs in blankets (small sausages wrapped in bacon) and was a huge success.
Jumping forward one year, Captain Sausage as our tourney organizer became known, now presides over a much anticipated and welcome break Sunday mornings which has grown to ridiculous levels both of kit and cuisine. A BBQ, multiple gas stoves, a gas heater, tents, gazeboes, plates, cutlery and even rubber matting to give those freezing tootsies a break feature prominently. Food wise, the range is just as large. Nearly a dozen different types of sausage, multiple condiments, rolls, baguettes, lamb chops, soup, instant and freshly ground coffee, biscuits, cakes, donuts and soft drinks all have featured this last year.
Sometimes it feels like Sundays are more about Archers who Lunch than actual shooting! However rest assured, our Vice Chair will always be on the line shooting … even if his face is covered in ketchup.

A true working class hero.

[…] Some of our more .. err .. “experienced” archers are quite excited by this. There are said to be age related tables where the longest required distance for some badge qualifying rounds will NOT require 90m/100yrds to be shot. This will mean A) that higher rated classifications will be available without you having to shoot entire 1440 rounds. B) you will not have to walk all the way to 90m or 100yrds and back when chasing badges. C) You won’t miss out on your sausage, get a burnt sausage or have your sausage go cold because you had to go score arrows at the other end of the field.
