Go West

It was the West of Scotland Indoor championships over the weekend of 18th/19th of February and we had some archers at the event chasing medals.

Oksana recently had an extension built onto her trophy cabinet.

Three archers in 3 different bow classes … its almost like we planned it to maximise medal opportunities! Scott Jamieson was defending his Gents Compound title from last year although back in those dark days of early 2022 … he wasn’t a Glasgow Archer (Hissssss!). However, since then, having seen the light, he has joined GA (Hurrah!). So this time round, he would be shooting for the Red and Black. Defending the Ladies Recurve title was Oksana who is very much a Glasgow Archer and was looking to continue her reign. Our culinary expert Captain Sausage (John) was also in the mix looking to improve on last years 10th place in the Gents Recurve.

The competition was hard fought but at the end of the day GA was on form. John improved his ranking from last year up to 9th. Oksana took the ladies recurve trophy with her usual murderous hatred of the gold rings. Finally Scott, using black magic, telescopic sights and a set of training wheels scampered off with the compound gold medal.

It was a good showing by our triple threat this year … but next year? We have Euan, Geo and Catherine all showing sparks of life so we could go mob handed.
